Behaviour

At Wroughton Junior School, we have high expectations of learning, behaviour and respect for each other and this underpins everything we do. Our team strive to create independent, articulate thinkers and learners who have the confidence to achieve their ambitions. We want all our learners to be ‘Proud to Belong’ to our school community.

At Wroughton Junior School we believe that Calm, Consistent and Kind adult behaviour is the foundation for good behaviour management. Calm, consistent adult behaviour means being in control of yourself before you attempt to take control of anyone else’s behaviour. Calm, consistent adult behaviour means that there are no gaps between the adults, there is an agreed plan we stick to.

At Wroughton Junior School we are a staff team and work together, we have a tight, firm foundation. We do not shout, we do not aggress, we do not show negative emotion when intervening with behaviour.

Whole School Rules

At Wroughton Junior School, we follow a set of simple rules which help with children’s behaviour choices, known as ‘Wroughton’s Three Rs’. They are continually reinforced through assemblies, lunchtimes and when discussing behaviours.

  3. We are Resilient

Teachers and Teaching Assistants are responsible for discussing the school expectations with each class, with a focus on what we expect and would like to see. These will be displayed around the school for children and staff to see. 

Routines are the cogs at the centre of all classroom practise. At Wroughton Junior School, we recognise that where Calm, Consistent and Kind Routines are established, children feel secure to take risks in their learning.

Rewards

We praise and reward children in a variety of ways. We distribute rewards to children for: following our school rules; consistent good work or behaviour; acknowledging outstanding effort or acts of kindness in school; and for excellent attendance. 

Consequences

The school employs several consequences to encourage children to think about and improve their behaviour. We employ sanctions appropriately to each individual situation but try to apply them in a uniform and progressive way.
